Maria

Hi, I'm Maria. I was born in Manila, Philippines, and immigrated to Edmonton, Alberta in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts Major in Public Relations from St. Paul University of Manila. I have always had a passion for helping people and wanted to integrate that into my career. In 1997, I enrolled in the Optical Sciences program at NAIT, where I earned the designation of Registered Optician. In 2015, I checked an item off my bucket list. I had the privilege of joining an optical mission trip to Albay, Philippines. Along with a team of doctors and opticians, I provided optical services for the community, which had little access to healthcare. The most rewarding part of the trip was making a difference in the lives of children and seniors. To this day, I still find joy in assisting patients with finding frames that fit their needs and suit their style. Outside of work, I enjoy spending quality time with my husband by going on walks in the Edmonton River Valley, visiting my daughter on the West Coast, trying new restaurants, traveling, and singing at family occasions.
